DEMON SLAYER SEASON 2 TO RECAP MUGEN TRAIN MOVIE FOR OVER A MONTH

The incredibly popular anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is about to return for its second epic television season. Unfortunately, some fans may be unaware that season 2 will open by re-adapting the box office sensation that was the Mugen Train movie.

Specifically, the first episode in season 2 will be set before the events of Mugen Train, likely around episodes 25 – 26 of the first television broadcast and will focus on Rengoku’s journey to the locomotive.

However, following the highly anticipated return this weekend, fans will have to show more patience before the next chapter in the story, The Entertainment District Arc, actually begins.

So, how long will Demon Slayer season 2 recap the Mugen Train movie for and why is the film getting a television adaptation in the first place?

It was confirmed on September 25th that the first seven episodes of Demon Slayer season 2 would include a recap of the hit 2020 film.

Howevzr, there will be some added original content sprinkled throughout these seven episodes, including the debut episode and around 70 new scenes according to Anime News Network.

This means that the first chapter in season 2 will be an original episode about Rengoku, before a television version of Mugen Train is broadcast from October 17th to November 28th.

The Entertainment District Arc i.e., the chronological sequel to Mugen Train will begin its domestic and international broadcast on Sunday, December 5th.

WHY RECAP MUGEN TRAIN IN DEMON SLAYER SEASON 2?

According to the official Demon Slayer website, the decision on making a television version of Mugen Train within the season 2 broadcast was to increase accessibility to the series.

The recap will also better connect our main character, Tanjiro Kamado, to the Unwavering Resolve Arc and the upcoming Entertainment District Arc, allowing an easier transition to the new chapter in the story.

As previously noted, the first seven episodes will include never-before-seen content with around 70 new scenes and an entire backstory for Rengoku in the debut episode.
